Language:

Although the material for this course is prepared in English, the lectures can be offered in either English or Swedish.

 Course duration:

12 hours, divided into 3 days. i.e. 4 hours/day.

Operating system / Tools / Programming languages:

We will use Linux (Ubuntu) in this course. We will provide you with a virtual machine image that you can import into Virtualbox. The only requirement is that you will have enough free disk space for installing Virtualbox and importing the image, which might be around 50GB.

The virtual machine image is configured with all the tools that we need. i.e: Java, Maven, Git, Glassfish, Robot Framework, selenium2library, chromedriver, Eclipse and the application that will be under test during the course.

Target audience:

This course is aimed to, but not only to, people who want to give a go at Software Testing Automation with focus on frontend tests. This includes people who already are, or intend to become, a Software Tester or a Programmer.

Learning objectives / Course description:

Robot Framework is an open-source framework for acceptance test with an active community.

The project is hosted at GitHub and so do a vast set of libraries that be used together with Robot Framework for creating test projects for, e.g. web-applications, web-services, SSH, HTTP requests and so on. Furthermore, Robot Framework uses a keyword-driven syntax approach, which makes it easier to get started with, even for those who are not so experienced with programming.

This course is aimed to, but not only to, people who want to give a go at Software Testing Automation with focus on Version Control Systems, Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery. The focus will be the role that Test Automation plays in a Continuous Integration system.

Learning objectives / Course description:

Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery are practices that have become more and more popular during the past few years. Roughly speaking, it consists of setting up a system that will be sensitive for listing to any changes in the source code of an application triggering, thus, a means of verifying and validating that no major errors were introduced in the application while changed were made.

Today’s applications are constantly under changes and, in order to have a reliable Continuous Integration system, a project may rely much on automated tests. This is, thus, of utmost importance that the automated tests are relevant and stable so they cover critical areas of a system and uncover major bugs and problems in a software application.
